Suffering
caused
by
possessive
jealousy
In
this
paper
the
author
intends
to
establish
some
specifications
on
the
concept
of
possessives
jealousy
within
kleinian
theory.
Firstly,
he
shows
the
advantage
of
developing
a
theoretical
issue
as
the
aforementioned
within
the
coherence
of
a
referential
scheme.
Secondly,
and
in
a
short
digression,
stops
to
consider
eclecticism
manners
and
their
main
consequence:
confusion
that
affects
both
psychoanalytic
theory
and
its
clinical
application.
Coming
back
to
the
jealousy’s
principal
issue,
the
author
points
out
the
importance
of
discriminating
the
different
grades
of
this
emotion
as
S.
Freud,
M.
Klein
and
specially
D.
Meltzer
did.
A
lecture
of
the
myth
of
the
foundation
of
Rome
that
led
its
founders
to
a
fratricidal
fight
is
taken
as
an
example
–Romulo
killed
Remo
due
to
a
boundary
quarrel
caused
by
the
possession
of
the
foundation
place,
which
was
Palatino’s
hill,
one
of
the
seven
hills
in
Rome.
On
the
basis
of
the
comprehension
of
the
myth,
criteria
to
differentiate
delirious
jealousy,
possessive
jealousy,
envy
and
its
links
with
the
so
called
“narcissism
of
small
differences”
are
used.
The
author
concludes
in
a
reformulation
of
possessive
jealousy
which
is
posed
as
more
relevant
for
its
use
in
psychoanalytical
theory
and
clinic.
Key
words:
Jealousy.
Envy.
Myths.
Narcissiism.
